Family Engagement

Raising a child or supporting a family member with a developmental disability is a unique journey — and no family should walk it alone. SCBDD’s Family Engagement program creates opportunities for families to connect with each other, build community, and access resources in a fun, welcoming environment.

From monthly playgroups for the youngest children to quarterly family events open to all ages, there’s something for every family throughout the year.

Wiggle Wednesdays

Join us for Wiggle Wednesdays, a monthly playdate for Early Intervention families! Kids enjoy play and movement in a safe, welcoming space while parents connect with others who understand the journey.

Family FUNctions

Our quarterly family events bring together families and individuals served by SCBDD for fun, laughter, and connection. Each event features a new seasonal theme. Keep an eye out for upcoming announcements!

Sandusky County SIBs

SIBs is a quarterly group for siblings ages 8–16 who have a brother or sister with a disability. It is a safe, welcoming space to share experiences, make connections, and have fun with others who understand what their family life is like.

Youth Empowerment League (YEL)

YEL is a social group for teens and young adults ages 14–22 served by SCBDD. Members build self-advocacy skills, leadership, and friendships through activities and discussions that matter to them. New members are always welcome!

Caregiver Cafés

Caregiver Cafés provide a welcoming, supportive environment for parents and caregivers of children with developmental disabilities. These gatherings offer an opportunity to connect with others who share similar experiences to exchange stories, build resilience, and receive mutual encouragement. Sessions are typically held monthly and often include childcare, allowing caregivers dedicated time to engage, learn, and strengthen their support network.
